A model is accusing Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace Mugabe of assaulting her at a hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg after she was partying with Mugabe’s sons at a nightclub.
Twenty-year-old Gabriella Engels said she met Mugabe’s sons, Robert Jnr and Chatunga, at the popular nightclub for the first time.
Engels claimed that she was sitting in a hotel room with two of her friends and Mugabe’s sons.
The model said that Grace came into the room and allegedly started “hitting” the three girls.
“She came in and started hitting us. The front of my forehead is busted open. I’m a model and I make my money based on my looks,” she told TimesLIVE.
Engels claims that Mugabe’s wife assaulted her with an extension cord, while the family’s bodyguards looked on.
The model posted images of the gash on her forehead on Twitter.
CEO of the Capital hotel group, Garnet Basson confirmed that an incident took place at the hotel and the group was asked to leave, but Basson said he was not allowed to disclose the names of the guests.
“We did have guests removed from the premises due to a scenario where we thought it was not good for them to stay there,” he said.
Engels’ mother confirmed that they were going to open a case of assault.
Grace Mugabe has not yet commented following the accusations.
