There’s absolutely no use mincing words. What you are are about to read is a SPOILER but we can bet you’ll be grateful for this one.
They say good things come to those who wait but this good thing arrived early so we latched on because no time. Last week, reports of a cyberattack on HBO made rounds and the hackers bragged about carting away with the next episode of our epic Game of Thrones with the promise to leak it online. Well, they made good on that promise and because we are shameless, we joined the millions of disloyal GoT fans who have watched the leaked episode 4.
These are five things you should look out for in the ‘Spoils of war’ episode and as always, we promise not to totally ruin tonight’s experience for you.
- “Chaos is a ladder”: Bran Stark is in Winterfell and Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish is getting cozy with him. We know the master trickster is very strategic about his relationships but he gets a surprise that sends shivers down his spine. Bran quoted one of Littlefinger’s mantra “chaos is a ladder” and it comes as a shock because Bran has never physically witnessed the older man say those words.
- Hail Drogon, the fieriest of dragons: The mother of dragons launches an attack on the Lannisters after she learns Greyworm and his Unsullied army are stranded in Casterly Rock. With the help of her dragons, they face the Lannister army but Drogon is wounded by that huge, dragon-killing crossbow Qyburn showed to Cersei in episode 3. However, Drogon rises again and this time…this time.
- Jamie vs Drogon: This time, Jamie charges at Drogon while his brother, Tyrion who is now torn between losing his family army and keeping his loyalty to Daenerys, realises how terrible that decision is and says, “Oh you fucking idiot”. Fear not for Jamie, he doesn’t get burned, thanks to his old-time homie and allround hilarious Bronn who saves the day. But we’re not sure Bronn survives getting torched by dragon fire.
- Arya Stark’s duel with Lady Brienne: Sansa watched in disbelief and maybe even a tinge of regret as her not-so-little sister outsmarts and manoeuvres the highly skilled Lady Brienne of Tarth in a sword fight. We all know what Arya has been through and how she learned the moves but her sister doesn’t and may never know because when Lady Brienne asked who taught her to fight so well, Arya said , “NO ONE”.
- Theon Greyjoy meets Jon Snow: It’s not the pleasant type of meeting because Jon has every reason to kill the man who murdered his brothers – Bran and Rickon – but he doesn’t. In that intense moment, the King of the North tells the broken Greyjoy that he’d spare him only because of how he helped Sansa escape the clutches of late Ramsay Bolton. Theon escapes death for the umpteenth time so we know there’s use for his life on the show.
The White Walkers are still marching.
Happy viewing later tonight!
